Every piece in The Connection Collection Gallery is a one-of-a-kind work of art, thoughtfully created by Shelley King.

With care and creative spontaneity, she mixes her own paint colours and playfully explores expressive mark-making techniques, resulting in richly textured papers that become the foundation for her unique collages and handcrafted jewellery. Each piece is designed to delight, inspire, and bring a little extra joy to its recipient.

If you see something you’d like to purchase or would like to place a custom order, please contact Shelley through the Contact page.  If a workshop is of interest so you can get started on your own creations, Shelley can help you with that as well!  We look forward to connecting with you soon!

Shelley lives and creates in Peterborough (Nogojiwanong), Ontario. Her work is available to order online and can also be found locally at select art galleries, gift shops, and community festivals.

Shelley explains the inspiration that sparked this collection: “At certain times of the day, the lighting at Lang Pioneer Village is such that the reflections in the windows of the buildings reveal some of what is inside, some of what is outside (behind you) and even glimpses of what is outside other windows in the same building - all at the same time. This creates layers of time, space, the past and present! It is a magical collaboration of time windows!”

This collection features collages ranging from 4" × 4" (10cm x 10cm) to 8" × 8" (20cm x 20cm), created with Shelley’s hand-printed papers layered within photographs she took of the windows, buildings, wagons, agricultural implements, furnishings, everyday objects and the natural surroundings throughout the Village.

The resulting one-of-a-kind artworks celebrate the textures, colours, and stories of village life. The imagery is transformed into small works of art including wall pieces, pendant necklaces, and bookmarks. Together, the collection offers a creative glimpse through the “windows of time,” connecting the past and present while celebrating the shared heritage of the community.
